The kilim is a knit without knots that has been used as a mat since ancient times in Iran and is considered as one of the handicrafts of Iranian nomads and villagers. The variety of kilims in Iran is very wide depending on different geographical areas.
Qashqai kilim
One of the most famous types of Iranian kilims is Qashqai Gaim. These kilims, which are mainly woven by Qashqai nomads, have very beautiful and unique designs. The design of these kilims is mentally woven, which shows the rich intelligence, creative mind, tenderness and efforts of the weavers of this beautiful art. The paintings are inspired by the myths, customs and beliefs of the people of the area.
Hersin kilim
Hersin kilim designs are subjective and have been passed down from generation to generation. Common designs in this kilim can be divided into four general categories: 1- Human designs; 2- Animal motifs; 3- Plant motifs; 4- Objects; All of which have very beautiful local names and are entirely derived from the surrounding nature and the environment of the people of this region, which has been abstracted to adapt to the style of kilim weaving.
Varrni
Varrni weaving is one of the prominent and old weavings of Azerbaijan region of Iran. This hand-woven fabric is produced today in an area called Dasht-e Moghan, which is located in Ardabil province. This weave is considered a nomadic handicraft. Varrni weaving is a delicate kilim, also called somak. According to many experts, this double kilim is the boundary between kilim and carpet. Varrni is one of the most complex handicrafts and its production requires several years of experience and skill of the weaver. The weaving method is the weaving method in which in addition to the warp yarn and the weft yarn, thin weft is also used in the weaving of the kilim. , The conflict of yarns and wefts is definite.
This method of weaving is considered to be the last home of the evolution of kilim weaving to carpet weaving. Varrni production is mostly done in the winter season of the tribe because at that time other tribes have become monogamous and have enough opportunity to rest and live in an area. Varrni weaving is usually a combination of silk and wool. Cotton, wool or silk threads are used for weaving, and accessible wool and silk cream is used for weaving.
Saneh Sanandaj kilim
A type of kilim that is woven in Sanandaj has a unique feature of this city, which is a slotted fabric that has a curved texture and is preferable to other areas because it is woven in most geometric areas. The roles often include flowers, shrubs, creeping hair, and bees, and in the middle bergamot there is a tabular or lattice role, inside each of which is a small bouquet known as the Herati design. The beautiful floral and bush designs are inspired by the embroidery and jewelry of the Safavid period and are often produced in workshops due to the excellent demands of the people of the cities.
Kalat kilim
Kalat kilim is one of the famous handmade kilims in Iran. This type of kilim is also known as Afshar kilim of Khorasan. The reason for this naming is that Kalat kilims are woven in the rare Kalat region of Khorasan. Villagers and Ashar Khorasani weave this type of kilim. Of course, this design is very famous and today other Iranian tribes also use it in kilim weaving.
